Down the pipes lives an underground horror;
he pongs and he crawls up our drains,
beware if he comes to surprise you,
because he bursts from the sink and he stains!
He reaches with unctuous fingers
to feed off our thoughtless releases;
he’ll grow to take over the sewers
if we feed him with fats, oils and greases.
Yet it’s easy to banish this monster;
we can stop him becoming widespread:
don’t pour from the pan to the plughole
just fill up a jam jar instead!
